Experience

 

Angela is a solicitor and industrial relations consultant, with over 20 years’ experience as an employment and industrial law specialist. She is also a nationally accredited mediator.

Prior to commencing her consultancy business, Angela was a Special Counsel in the Brisbane office of a leading Australian law firm, where for almost 10 years she worked with employers to:

  • Resolve workplace and industrial disputes

  • Manage workplace issues, including ill and injured employees, disciplinary issues and interpersonal conflict

  • Set employment conditions, by identifying correct award coverage and drafting plain English employment agreements

  • Advise on, and draft, enterprise agreements

  • Conduct workplace investigations

  • Represent employers in tribunals and courts, including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, Fair Work Commission, Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT), Magistrates Court, Supreme Court and Federal Court

  • Provide workplace training to managers and employees on workplace bullying, harassment and discrimination, conducting workplace investigations, best practice performance management, compliance with workplace relations laws and avoidance of risk, and ‘back to basics’ training on workplace relations issues

Angela has previously held positions in a top-tier national law firm, government agencies both in Australia and London, and in a boutique firm specialising in employee and union employment law.

She has worked extensively with State and Local government agencies, and she understands the unique environment, legal framework and demands of these clients.

Angela has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Queensland. She is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and also holds a practising certificate for the Federal courts.
